The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko believes that his country should buy the whole Russian gas at its Eastern border and to transport it to Europe. He said this at a briefing on the results of the NATO summit in Brussels, reports TASS.
“It would be most effective if Ukraine as part of Europe buys Russian gas at the Ukrainian-Russian border. This would ensure the appropriate level of energy security, and would stop any insinuations,” said he, commenting on the construction of “Nord stream-2”, which will deliver gas to Europe bypassing Ukraine.
9 July, Poroshenko said that “Nord stream-2” bears a purely political character. Ukraine’s task in this situation — prevent monopolization and protect the interests of the European Union.
“Nord stream-2” gas pipeline project between Russia and Germany, which will run under the Baltic sea. The total capacity of the project is estimated at 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The pipeline is scheduled for late 2019.
