One of the largest international hubs for data centers may appear in the Arctic part of Russia. About this TASS said the expert, “the Project office for the development of the Arctic”, Professor Ranhigs Alexander Vorotnikov.
“As far as I know, the authorities of some regions of Russia have already offered investors the territory for accommodation of large data storage centers”, — he said.
According to Vorotnikov, “natural cold” important for large data warehouses and cited the example of Facebook, the company whose data center is located at the Arctic circle.
The necessary legislative base for this project have already appeared. Accepted 29 June, the law defines the mechanisms for interaction between government and the private sector in the sphere of high technologies.
