The founder of Tinkoff Bank, and billionaire Oleg Tinkov plans to build the first private-breaker to send tours to Antarctica and the Arctic. He told this in an interview with Forbes.
“I want to build the world’s first private icebreaker. The yacht, called “explorere”, actually has no ice class. This year imposed a ban boats float above the 80th latitude. And I want to build an icebreaker to go to the North pole to Antarctica, the Arctic, pass through the Northern sea route to Kamchatka, Chukotka, the Kuril Islands,” explained the project’s concept Tinkov.
The ship will be built within the elite tourist project La Datcha, which allows you to rent luxury housing in France, Italy and Russia. The billionaire has invested in the project $ 50 million and was called La Datcha “happy billionaire” and “pure hobby”.
Tinkov has not announced the timing of the project, but said he will begin construction after launching of the object in the Mexican resort of Cabo San Lucas. He added that he wants to brand La Datcha “associated with extreme sports, and luxury”.
Tinkov was in 43rd place in the list of the richest businessmen of Russia according to Forbes. The publication estimates his fortune at $ 2.2 billion.
