Iranians beat 80 times with a whip for drinking in childhood alcohol

As noted, this was a punishment for what he drank alcohol at the wedding, when he was 14 or 15 years. The incident occurred in 1385 on the Iranian calendar (lasted from March 2006 to March 2007), at the same time the young man was arrested and sentenced to punishment. Why was it enforced after so many years, is not specified.

According to some, M. R. drank at the wedding, where during a quarrel occurred the murder of 17-year-old. However, the incident he had no relationship.

“The circumstances of this case are absolutely shocking, this is another horrific example of perverse priorities of the Iranian authorities,” — said Philip Luther, head of middle East office of the international human rights organization Amnesty International. According to him, no one regardless of age should be subjected to flogging, and the child, whom was M. R. at the time of sentencing, should not be prosecuted.

In Iran, public flogging sentence for more than 100 types of disorders. Among them theft, assault, vandalism, slander, fraud, and sexual intercourse between unmarried man and woman and same-sex relationships.
