Russia in 2018 is threatened by population decline. To such conclusion came the experts of the Academy and of the economic policy Institute named Gaidar in the next survey “Monitoring the economic situation in Russia.”
According to analysts, the main reason may be the decrease of migration inflow from Ukraine to ordinary values with a weak restoring of the influx from the countries of Central Asia. For the first four months of the current year increase due to international migration (57.1 thousand people) was compensated only 47.1 percent of natural population decline, renewed in 2016.
Since the beginning of the year, most migrants came from Tajikistan (12.1 thousand). From Ukraine moved to 7.4 thousand people, experts attribute this to a “standstill” in the Donbass and the cessation of mass forced
It is also noted that the majority of Russian regions are losing population due to migration, to the greatest extent, North-Caucasian, Volga, Siberian and far Eastern Federal district. Far East district lost as a result of migration in the aforesaid period of 5.1 thousand people. This is less than in 2017, but the goal is the cessation of outflows — still far from achieving.
In the summer of 2016 Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Institute of demography, migration and regional development Yuri Krupnov said that Russia by 2025 awaits deeper than in the 1990-ies of the demographic hole.
