The signing of a contract with Airbus Helicopters for the supply of 55 helicopters will allow Kiev is not technically dependent on Russia. This is the opinion of the Deputy Minister of internal Affairs of Ukraine Sergey Spring. His words are on the Agency’s website.
“A year ago it is understood that the Ukrainian fleet of helicopters is dependent on supplies of components from Russian Federation. We decided to organize the work with the French company Airbus Helicopters in order to provide appliances all of our units without the participation of the Russian Federation”, — said Spring.
The agreement on the supply of helicopters was signed on Saturday, July 14. The amount of the transaction amounted to 555 million euros. Machines will be made available to the National guard and police, border guards and emergency services.
In addition, the French side will be engaged in maintenance services of helicopters to train trainers and technicians.
The basis of the helicopter fleet is made up of vehicles of Soviet production — Mi-2, Mi-8, Mi-24, part of which was subjected to modernization.
