The President of Russia Vladimir Putin met with President of France Emmanuel Macron. This was reported on the Kremlin website.

According to the Russian leader, the usual mechanisms of cooperation between the two countries are restored. “This gives reason to believe that we will overcome all the difficulties encountered in the previous time, and move on to a positive path of development of multilateral relations,” he said.

Putin added that a good momentum to the development of relations between Russia and France was given in the framework of the Petersburg economic forum. In addition, he noted the growth of trade between countries with 15 percent last year to 19 per cent for the current half-year.

In turn, Emmanuel macron stressed that this meeting will enable the two parties to continue the dialogue started in may in St. Petersburg, on international and regional issues, including the situation in Syria. “We took on certain obligations and has implemented a number of measures”, — said the French leader.

Macron also thanked Russia for the excellent organisation of the world Cup and said great game to the Russian team “against all odds”. Putin, in his turn congratulated the team of France in the final of the world Cup. “I’m sure the game will be intense, interesting, beautiful, will please millions of fans around the world,” he added.
