The armed forces of Ukraine have begun to abandon the mortars of Ukrainian production “Hammer”, reported the official representative of the people’s militia self-proclaimed Luhansk national Republic (LNR) Andrey Marochko. His words on Sunday, July 15, leads RIA Novosti.

“Soldiers refuse to use the so-called advanced development of “Ukroboronprom” mortar “Hammer”. In his report, the Deputy commander of the 92nd motorized infantry brigade armament indicated that the mortar is a very bad copy of the Soviet 2ะก12 mortar “Sani”, and that the new mortar, which entered service in the brigade, have manufacturing defects and corrosion,” said Marochko.

According to him, in particular, it is known that when carrying out firing exercises APU two of the 12 participating Molotov failed already after the first shot. So, one the car came off the barrel mount, the other mechanism of levelling.

Mortar “Hammer” was developed at the Kiev enterprise “Zavod Mayak” in 2015. The APU is an instrument used in 2016. Since then, there have been three cases of exploding mortar shells, resulting in a total of seven people were killed and another 18 injured.
