The defence Minister of India Nirmala Seetharaman commented on the decision by the authority about the programme of the FGFA (Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft), involving the creation on the basis of the su-57 India’s first fifth generation fighter, reports The Economic Times.
“We gave Russia that India is no longer a part of this project, but also tell the Russians that they can continue it themselves, and we can join the programme at a later stage”, — said the Minister.
In April Janes has announced the release of India from FGFA. The reason for the collapse of the 11-year programme of the Indian air force called unbridgeable gap in technological and financial issues.
The programme of the FGFA was launched in 2007 and its main contractors have become “Dry” from the Russian side and Hindustan Aeronautics with the Indian. Countries agreed to create a fifth generation fighter on the basis of Russian aircraft. In the first stage of the program worth 295 million dollars was designed by the design of the Indian fighter, but then the FGFA project has not progressed because of the many differences that have arisen between the parties.
Russia considered the partnership with India on the creation of fifth generation fighter as the main source of funding for serial production of su-57.
