Kidnapping people from Chechnya Zelimkhan Akhmadov, who fled the Republic due to the suspicion of homosexuality, was attended by four people, at least one of whom had a fake business card of a police officer. On Monday, July 16, writes “Novaya Gazeta”.
According to the publication, on Friday, July 13, in St. Petersburg, Akhmatova was attacked by four men when he left the house to take out the trash. The young man was bundled into a black BMW and drove to the hostel on moss street, where he waited for his father. Between the abductors spoke Chechen.
Then a friend of the kidnapped turned to the staff of “Russian LGBT network”, which provided Ahmadova apartment in St. Petersburg. Human rights defenders found and interviewed witnesses of the incident and called the police. In the end, the law enforcement officers managed to “punch” the number of the kidnappers and to promptly establish the whereabouts of the young man. Akhmadov himself also had to send staff LGBT organization a TEXT message saying where it is.
After a few hours the young man and his father were taken to the police station where they spent more than five hours. As the newspaper notes, all the while the father tried to persuade his son to record a video statement in which he acknowledged that he was not gay and that he was never kidnapped. Akhmadov, however, to make such statements refused.
The other four attackers were not detained. According to “Novaya Gazeta”, the identity of one of them installed — the driver and the owner of the machine took Akhmadov. As told by the guards of the apartment complex where lived a young man, the kidnappers on the BMW guard him home for two days. The guards, the driver showed the certificate of the employee of police of St. Petersburg. It was later established that it was a fake.
The attempted kidnapping of Akhmadov became known on July 13. Before, even at home, a young man several times, illegally detained and beaten. The staff of the Chechen police told relatives Akhmadov that you think he’s gay. According to the victim, the guards urged his brother to commit “honor killing”.
In early April of 2017 in “Novaya Gazeta” published a material that in the Republic of homosexuals are detained, sent to prison, tortured and killed. Later in the publication have compiled a list of 22 victims. The Chechen authorities have not confirmed the information and called the reports of journalists provocation, the press Secretary of the head of the Republic Ramzan Kadyrov, Alvi Karimov claimed that in Chechnya there is no gay.
