If Moscow refuses the implementation of the project “Northern stream-2”, the rate for transit of Russian gas in case of renewal of contract after 2019 with full capacity operation of the Ukrainian gas pipeline will be 20 percent lower than what Gazprom pays under the current contract. About this in Facebook wrote to the commercial Director of “Naftogaz of Ukraine” Yuriy Vitrenko.
According to him, the proposed rate is 2.3 times less than the average cost of transit on existing regulated tariffs, established by the national Commission exercising the state regulation in the spheres of energy and communal services in December 2015.
Earlier the President of Russia Vladimir Putin during a joint press conference with the American leader Donald trump said that Moscow is ready to extend the contract for gas transit to the EU via Ukraine in the event of a settlement of the dispute between “Gazprom” and “Naftogaz” in the Stockholm arbitration court. He also said that the launch of the pipeline “Nord stream-2” will not affect the transit of gas through Ukrainian territory.
The project “Northern stream-2” involves the construction of a gas pipeline between Russia and Germany, which will run under the Baltic sea. The total capacity of the project is estimated at 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year. It is assumed that “Nord stream-2” will allow Russia to increase gas supplies to Europe and reduce transit through Ukraine.
