The British company Rolls-Royce announced the development of a miniature robotic cockroaches, which will start inside aircraft engines to identify and troubleshoot the problem. This was reported on the official website of Rolls-Royce.
The project was presented at the air show “Farnborough” in the UK. According to engineers at Rolls-Royce, the technology will accelerate monitoring of the engines, and would also eliminate the need to remove it each time to fix.
“Just checking the engine takes five hours, and these little robots may need only five minutes,” said developer James Kell.
The creation of robots-cockroaches the participation of specialists from Harvard University and the University of Nottingham.
In July, Rolls-Royce introduced the concept
electric flying taxi Electric Vertical Take Off and Landing. The aircraft can reach the speed of 400 kilometers per hour, and the maximum range of its flight will be 800 kilometers. Taxi will be equipped with six folding propellers, four of which are retracted into the wings to reduce the noise level during the flight.
