The Russian Embassy in Washington was able to get permission to visit on July 19 consular staff’s Butinai arrested in the United States. This is stated in the message of the Embassy in Facebook.
“The Embassy staff called for a meeting in the district of Columbia court next hearing on the case of Russian citizen’s Butinai. The Embassy managed to get permission to visit her consular officers, July 19. Give her necessary support,” say the diplomats.
On 18 July Butinai read out the charges. She is accused of participating in a conspiracy with the purpose of acting in favor of a foreign state on the territory of the United States, as well as in business activities without being registered with the Ministry of justice as an agent of a foreign state.
The guilt the Russian did not recognize. Following session on business will take place on July 24.
About the detention of Butinai it became known on July 16. It is assumed that she worked for top-ranking officials of the Russian government, which is under US sanctions.
