The Russian defense Ministry is creating a new infrastructure for the deployment of troops and military equipment along the Western and South-Western borders of the country. About it reports “Interfax” with reference to the Deputy Minister Timur Ivanov.
“The Ministry of defence pays considerable attention to the construction of infrastructure for the placement of personnel and the storage of weapons and equipment in the normal conditions in Western and South-Western strategic directions,” he said.
According to the Deputy Minister, since the beginning of this year was commissioned more than 480 buildings and structures in YEL’nya (Smolensk oblast), Valuyki (Belgorod oblast), Pioneer (Kaliningrad region), Kadamovsky and Millerovo (Rostov region), and also in Sevastopol.
As reported RIA Novosti, Ivanov noted that over 200 buildings and structures were built in 2018 for the needs of the Navy, space and missile special forces and the 12th main Directorate of the defense Ministry responsible for nuclear safety.
In December 2017, “Kommersant” with reference to sources reported that Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has asked President Vladimir Putin to allocate contracts for the construction of military facilities without competition. According to the newspaper, for the construction of special facilities in 2018-2027 years will be allocated about one trillion rubles of budget funds.
