The head of the Ukrainian foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin called the possibility of a referendum in the Donbass “rehearsal” pursued by the Kremlin for the collapse of Ukraine. He wrote about this in his Twitter account.
“Who would believe in the possibility of a free and fair expression of will in the conditions of Russian occupation? The Russian Donbass was not interested Ukrainian citizens there, too,” wrote the Minister.
On Friday, July 20, the Russian President proposed the American leader is Donald Trump to hold a referendum in the Donbass, to settle the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine. However, the US government and Ukraine refused to support a referendum in Donbass on the status of the breakaway republics of the region. Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Herashchenko wrote in Facebook that no referendum on the uncontrolled Ukrainian authorities territories will not.
On the same day, in Russia it was reported that the idea of a referendum in the Donbass are not groundless, and is discussed, but the so-called Crimean scenario it is not intended.
