Putin asked to intervene in yet another war

The Chairman of the Supreme political Council of the Huthis, the Shiite rebels in Yemen, Mahdi al-Mashat sent a telegram to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin with the request to help stop the civil war in the country. It is reported Yemeni news Agency SABA.

The Houthis, who are fighting with the coalition of Sunni States, mostly monarchies of the Persian Gulf, despite the long success was on the verge of defeat after the beginning of the 13th June operation “Golden victory” of the international Islamic coalition. Then had captured the strategically important port city of Hadad on the Red sea, held the Houthi movement “Ansar Allah”.

Civil war in Yemen goes from 2014. One of the warring parties is the military wing of the Houthis (the Shiite movement “Ansar Allah”) and those loyal to the former leadership of the country part of the army, the other troops expelled their Sunni President Abd-rabbu Mansour Hadi and the Saudi-led coalition.

In 2015, the Russian air and space forces began to take part in the military campaign in Syria. With the request for military assistance to Moscow appealed to the Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.
