Six members of the Yaroslavl colony arrested for torturing a prisoner

Six members of the Yaroslavl colony was arrested after video of torture of the prisoner. On Monday, July 23, reported on the website of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR).

According to the report, the investigation established the identity of almost all of the employees of the penal colony, were involved in the beating of a prisoner. Performed investigative and operational search actions directed on detention of the other suspects.

Earlier, on July 22, it became known about the dismissal from work 17 employees UFSIN, which could be identified on video beating a prisoner in the colony. The decision to further the work of the FPS and criminal prosecution.

The video footage of the correctional colony №1 in the Yaroslavl region staged a brutal torture for one of the prisoners, appeared online on July 20. In the video more than 10 people in the form of a long and methodically hit the legs lying on the table in the middle of the room a man, handcuffed, sprinkled his head with water from a bucket.

It was noted that the incident occurred last summer, and the prisoner’s name is James Monroe. The alleged reason for the torture was disrespectful to one of the employees of the institution on the part of the victim. On the same day, the Investigative Committee initiated proceedings on excess of powers of office.
