Putin gave the nod to creation of special economic zone in the Voronezh region

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with acting Governor of Voronezh region Alexander Gusev. A transcript of the conversation published on the Kremlin website on Tuesday, August 7th.

Gusev has reported the head of state that the economic performance of the region exceeds all-Russian, the region lags behind only on one point — the attraction of investments. According to the acting Governor, to fix the situation by creating a special economic zone.

“In Lipetsk special economic zone, and we looked at what industries she is busy. Of course, we do not need to duplicate what they have. We would like in some other industry to go, it’s everything to do with electronics. (…) Everything that is connected with the possibility of production of components for the nuclear industry, because the competencies are our present,” said he.

Gusev said that in the next five years in the special economic zone can accommodate up to 15 companies with a total investment of more than 30 billion rubles. “Accordingly, there will be new jobs,” — said the head of the region.

Despite the government’s decision to open a new free economic zones
Vladimir Putin has promised to support the initiative Gusev. The head of state noted that the project is well thought out and can positively affect the economy of the region.

The President appointed Gusev acting Governor in December 2017. Prior to that, he was the mayor of Voronezh.
