Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev spoke about increasing the retirement age and changes in the system of calculating payments. It is reported by RIA Novosti. The Prime Minister said that the government could not do otherwise — the reform needed in the country.
“This is now the most difficult question which is causing great debate in society. These kind of changes in pension legislation, even if the person wants to work, most people are not pleased with the change. As rightly noted by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, no one is pleased with and among members of the government,” said the Premier, noting that it was a necessary decision.
As a comparison, Medvedev cited cases when a person is forced to take bitter medicine to get well. “People do not want to drink it, but realizes that if he this medicine do not drink, you could end up much worse. Also these changes”, — said Medvedev, stressing that the current pension system is in a “very difficult situation”. It is the ratio of pensioners to working Russians. According to Medvedev, the ratio is approaching the level of one-to-one that risks “the system just break”.
Medvedev also noted that the law on raising the retirement age is still only in the state Duma, where it is still the subject of wide discussion. The Prime Minister expects the expert and analytical community can still influence the legislation, Medvedev also announced the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on this issue.
The head of government announced the holding of another Russian pension reform in mid-June. The essence of the reform is to raise the retirement age. Reform is negatively perceived by Russians, the vast majority of which do not support reform. In July, for the first time spoke on pension reform and Vladimir Putin. According to him, with raising the retirement age there was no hurry.
