Archaeologists from the Australian national University found that Homo erectus (Homo erectus), the ancestor of the people of the modern type, became extinct due to the fact that applied enough force to create tools and food. About it reported in a press release on Phys.org.
According to scientists, Homo erectus for the manufacture of stone tools used stones that were found in the immediate vicinity of homes, even those of low quality not really suitable for this purpose.
The researchers found that the location of ancient sites of archaic people, where were found artifacts made of stones, which lay at the foot of the hill. At the same time on the hills were untouched breeds that are more suitable for creating tools.
According to archaeologists, the erectus is believed that they have enough resources and did not care about improving their situation. They were characterized by a more sedentary life than Homo sapiens and Neanderthals. Last climbed mountains to find the stones and transport them over long distances.
