The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko wanted to remove from the Constitution “dictated by the Kremlin” items. About this he wrote on his page in Facebook.

Poroshenko said about the necessity of enshrining plans by the country’s accession to the EU and NATO. The President added that he will not allow anyone to question Ukraine’s course towards European integration. “You also need to get rid of the “dictated by the Kremlin,” the forgotten constitutional framework for temporary stay of the Russian fleet on our territory. I have your answer and suggestion on this”, — wrote the Ukrainian leader.

The President is confident that he can find three hundred votes in Parliament for amending the Basic law.

The transitional provisions of the Ukrainian Constitution refer, in particular, accommodation in Crimea, the black sea fleet base of the Russian Federation. After the return of Crimea to Russia in March 2014, these provisions actually expired.

Poroshenko not the first time is going to amend the existing Constitution. In may of this year he announced a change in the status of Crimea, which Ukraine considers as its. The President has decided to enshrine the rights of the Crimean Tatar people to self-determination within the Ukrainian state.
