Putin announced a statement on pension reform

President Vladimir Putin stated that will formulate and announce its position on pension reform on Wednesday, August 29. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the head of the government was based on hard economic conditions during the formation of the changes in pension legislation. “Please do not forget that all our decisions will concern hundreds of millions of people and must be fair, to consider the interests of citizens, we cannot act mechanically, technically, and only carefully, only carefully”, he added.

Putin also said that social protection measures should be taken ahead. “We can’t rely on the well-known principle of the sun king Louis XIV, who once said, “After me, the deluge.” We can’t do that, if a responsible attitude to the country,” the President said.

Earlier, the President spoke about the planned reform. According to him, he shares the negative attitude of most Russians to possible changes, however, the current age limit of retirement was marked in the 1930-ies. The head of state assured that in any case the decision is not a shock.

Major changes in pension legislation, the Cabinet announced in mid-June. Despite the fact that the proposed increase in the retirement age to 65 years for men and 63 years for women, the majority of Russians perceived negatively, on 19 July, the document passed in the state Duma in the first reading.
