Front of the Russian Embassy in Kiev was held a rally of memory of Ukrainian soldiers killed near Ilovaisk in August 2014. On Wednesday, August 29, informs “Obozrevatel”.

The rally was held under the slogan “For Ilovaysk answer!” The participants staged in front of the Russian Embassy makeshift cemetery by installing white crosses and wrote the names of soldiers killed in Ilovaisk.

The participants stated that they consider the Russian authorities as having occurred. They also burned the flag of the breakaway Donetsk national Republic (DND).

On August 28 the head of Department of civil-military cooperation of the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) Alexei Nozdrachev said that the battle of Ilovaysk in August 2014 killed more than 200 Russian soldiers and 300 were injured. From the Ukrainian side in those battles lost 366 fighters, among them 150 soldiers of the APU, said Nozdrachev. In addition, 84 fighter unaccounted for, and 11 remain in the captivity of the self-proclaimed DND and LNR. The number of missing persons includes bodies and their fragments, which at present cannot be identified.

During the military operation, which Kiev deployed against the armed supporters DND in mid-April 2014 in Ilovaisk repeatedly were active hostilities. By August 2014 the Ukrainian security forces managed to occupy much of the city, but later they were surrounded by forces of the armed forces DND. At the exit from the boiler of the Ukrainian security forces suffered heavy losses.

The confrontation between Ukrainian security forces and militias self-proclaimed republics of Donbass lasts from spring 2014. Then the Kiev leadership that came to power in a coup, announced the beginning of anti-terrorist operation to suppress protests of the inhabitants of the East of the country.
