The statue of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan made of gold, was taken from the centre of the German city in a police car. It was reported by Der Tagesspiegel.
The monument was erected on 27 August in Wiesbaden within the framework of contemporary art festival Wiesbaden Biennale, which in 2018 is held under the slogan “Bad news”. Four-meter Erdogan is depicted with outstretched right hand, and points in front of him.
As writes the edition, the author deliberately prepared for the Biennale provocative work, but the message is appreciated by all. Some users of social networks criticized his work. “What next, Hitler?” — wrote one of them on Twitter.
In the city administration explained that the installation of the statue was agreed, however, that she will portray the Turkish leader, nobody knew. In addition, the authorities stated that the gold Erdogan was dismantled for safety reasons: his supporters or critics could provoke a conflict, wrote the Associated Press.
During the early presidential elections in June, the Turkish leader has received in European countries a higher support of compatriots than at home. His voice gave him almost two thirds living in Germany Turks.
