Press Secretary of the head of Chechnya, Alvi Karimov advised not to take literally the words of Ramzan Kadyrov on human rights defenders. On Wednesday, August 29, reports “Russian service bi-Bi-si”.
On the question of correspondent about the meaning of the words of Kadyrov about the ban on entry to Chechnya for some human rights activists, Karimov said, “Wait, you’re serious man! You like, literally that’s all [perceive]? You believe that Ramzan Kadyrov gives orders to the border guard service of Russia? [Chechnya] is a territory of the Russian Federation”.
The journalist in answer said, whether he understands that these words of Kadyrov should not be taken literally. Karimov replied in the affirmative.
On August 28 the international human rights organization Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Front Line Defenders urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to condemn the statements of the head of Chechnya banning human rights defenders to visit the country.
On August 22, speaking to members of the Chechen interior Ministry, Kadyrov called for a ban on entry into the Republic “so-called rights activists” who engaged in “double-talk” and “writing papers in their offices.” He also compared them to terrorists and extremists.
The Kremlin suggested that the words of the head of Chechnya was taken out of context.
