In Russia, indeed, widespread corruption, and the reason is the lack of public and state institutions of control, told in an interview to “Kommersant” the head of the chamber Alexei Kudrin.
“People believe that the widespread theft of public finances. This view is, unfortunately, justified”, — he said.
According to him, the fight against corruption could promote freedom of speech, political competition and “real accountability of authorities to their constituents”. “Yes, we even still have not learned to work with prices of government contracts for real, although doing this 20 years”, — said the head of the audit chamber.
He called and strengths of the state anti-corruption policy, including transparent information on public procurement. “However, we have bad systemic analysis of what is happening,” — said Kudrin, adding that the state should work to improve the clarity and informative data on public procurement, “making them easier to understand for the common man”.
In early August, Kudrin spoke about the future expansion of the powers of the accounts chamber in the sphere of fight against corruption. This additional authority applies and the Ministry of Finance, which Kudrin chaired from 2000 to 2011. The Ministry plans to conduct its own audit of budget expenditures.
