Russia urged to “stop harassing shipping” in the Kerch Strait

Russia detained since April, hundreds of commercial ships and stopped at least 16 ships that tried to reach the Ukrainian ports. This was stated by the head of the press service of the U.S. Department of state Heather Nauert, RIA Novosti reported.

“The United States condemns the Russian threat to international shipping in the Azov sea and the Kerch Strait,” — said in a statement. The state Department urged Russia to “stop harassing international shipping”.

The American side believes that Russia’s actions preventing marine transit and advanced destabilisateur the situation in Ukraine. The state Department also accused the Kremlin of violating international norms.

Earlier, on August 29, Ukraine announced the development plan to reflect the “aggression” of Russia in the Azov sea. According to the former commander of the naval forces of Ukraine Vice-Admiral Sergei Haiduk, first of all, Kiev should develop likely scenarios of Russia’s actions.

The second step, he said, should become “political, economic, informational and, in the end, the power “homework” in case of aggravation of the situation in any of the possible scenarios of Russia’s actions”.
