In Germany, the court sentenced an Afghan refugee to eight and a half years in prison for the murder of 15-year-old girl. About this reports Deutsche Welle.
Lawyer Abdul J. stated that the court made a fair decision, which was agreed to and the criminal himself.
The case received wide publicity and caused a wave of discontent of the migrant policy of the German authorities. Some citizens considered the sentence harsh enough. “As an active citizen, I believe that eight and a half years in prison punishment enough”, — told reporters one of the men to the courthouse. Another said that such a murder should get 10 years in prison.
According to the defendant, at the time of the crime he was 15 years old, so he was tried as a juvenile. However, the Prosecutor thought it was questionable. The results of the medical examination, ordered by the prosecution, showed that in 2017, Abdul D. was from 17 to 20 years.
The murder occurred in December 2017. Then Abdul D. — a refugee from Afghanistan was stabbed by the same age-a German 20-centimeter kitchen knife in one of the city pharmacies. According to the prosecution, the murder was jealousy.
The teenager came to Germany in the spring of 2016 and has been registered as unaccompanied minors. He was subsequently sent to a special institution in the city of Neustadt and attended school in Kandel, where he met with the victim.
The crime became the reason of mass protests in Kendal, which took place over several months, the newspaper writes. At the same time, a major channel Germany ARD refused to cover the murder, because the incident was “parochial”.
Migration crisis broke out in Europe in 2015. Later between the Christian social Union (CSU) and Christian democratic Union (CDU) Angela Merkel sparked the conflict on the issue of combating illegal migration. The Chancellor is promoting pan-European solutions to this problem, however, the Bavarian CSU and the head of the interior Ministry insist that undocumented migrants or already rejected for asylum in Germany were deployed on the German border.
