In the German city of Chemnitz, where recently there have been protests against migrants, held a rock concert dedicated to the fight against racism and xenophobia. Reported by the Associated Press.
The event titled Wir sind mehr (“more of Us”) is scheduled for Monday, September 3. The description says that it is “not just a concert or a party, but an expression of solidarity with all those affected by neo-Nazis”.
Among the bands — Die Toten Hosen, Kraftklub and other popular German bands. On the page of the concert in Facebook joined thousands of people at the time of writing the group was noted by 38 thousand people.
30 August, about 10 thousand inhabitants of Chemnitz took part in the protests after the murder of German migrants. According to The Guardian, the March was organized by the anti-Islamic Pegida movement and right populist party “Alternative for Germany”. The protesters were accompanied by more than 1.8 thousands of police officers from nine Federal States of Germany. At the same time took to the streets, supporters of left-wing organizations: in their clashes with protesters and police injured 18 people.
Politicians and the media condemned the speech of the townspeople: almost all media reporting on the situation, called the protesters “right-wing”. However, as the photos show, mostly on the streets of the city, including families with children and persons with disabilities in wheelchairs. During the rally, they refused to communicate with reporters. Among the popular slogans — “We the people” and “Lying press”.
35-year-old Daniel Hillig was mortally wounded in Hanover on August 26. On suspicion of his murder, police arrested 23-year-old Syrian, and 22-year-old Iranian.
