Russian regions will retain benefits for retirees

Russian regions have decided to keep the existing measures of social support for citizens approaching retirement age. So, in the Volgograd regional Duma already forwarded a bill amending the social code of the region, reported “Interfax” the press service of the regional Governor on Monday, September 3.

The Committee of social protection of the Volgograd oblast, the Agency explained that the amendments will allow residents of the region older to use existing benefits in full. “So, men over the age of 60 and women age 55 years regardless of obtaining the status of “retired” will retain the right to compensation of expenses on payment of premises and certain types of utilities, reduced fares and targeted social benefits, as well as providing hearing AIDS and prosthetic products. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced amendments to the pension law on June 14. The reform includes raising the retirement age eight years for women and five for men. The document has already passed its first reading in the state Duma.
