The Russian Orthodox Church for the first time in its history free from political influence in the country and is in equal dialogue with the government. This was stated by the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill at the meeting with the Archbishop of Turku and Finland Tario Luoma, reports RIA Novosti.
The head of the Russian Orthodox Church noted that the Western media “almost agreed to the fact that the Patriarch is not free and acts according to what he says Putin”. According to him, the Church does not negotiate with the government for any of its actions.
“I would like to say that Patriarch Kirill is now free as no one in the Russian Church was not free. And I don’t know if other Orthodox churches,” — said the Patriarch.
He said that the Church defines the line at the meetings of the Synod. “We begin to develop it, and very often in a friendly dialogue with the President I told him about what the Church does. Most often it’s a kind of news, but, by the grace of God, he always very positively perceives it,” added Patriarch Kirill.
