Pole was accused of espionage for Russia

A former employee of one of the Polish ministries Marek V. formally charged with spying for Russia. This is stated in Thursday, September 6, at the Prosecutor’s office.

“Marek V. is accused of participation in the activities of the Russian military intelligence GRU against Poland in 2014-2016. During the espionage activities of the accused passed on information received at work in the Ministry of economy”, — stated in the message. The man faces one to 10 years in prison. Whether he acknowledges his guilt, is not specified.

According to authorities, the indictment was received in the district court of Warsaw after the end of the investigation. He led the Department for combating organized crime and corruption the local Prosecutor’s office.

Marek V. was detained in March by the internal security Agency. Then it was reported that he worked in the Ministry of energy of the country, interested in the activities of the Agency and had contact with operating under diplomatic cover of the Russian intelligence.
