Researcher in the field of cyber security Patrick Wardle (Patrick Wardle) found that the application for Mac called Adware Doctor spying on users. He said this in the blog Objective-See.
Adware Doctor is the fourth most popular paid app for the Mac. The developers promise that the program cost $ 4.99 (about 350 rubles) remove it from the computer and harmful adware.
Words found that the app collects your browser history and the list of used programs in a zip file, and then sends it to one of the Chinese servers. The program does not prompt the user access to this information. “Access to such data is obviously based on deception of the user,” concluded the researcher.
Typically, such applications are limited in their actions: they are unable to access all parts of the operating system. Thus, Doctor Adware violates Apple’s privacy rules and regulations, stipulating the functionality of the programs.
Earlier, in August, experts have accused of espionage extension for Mozilla Firefox called Web Security. It gave a history of uploaded user address on a German server.
