Russian tank T-14 “Armata” get a new guided missile, the armor penetration which is twice the thickness of armor of an American M1 Abrams main tank, according to “Izvestia”.
A weapon capable of hitting enemy vehicles, located at a distance of over five kilometers and is moving with a speed of 70 kilometers per hour. The thickness of the armor plate, which is the rocket punch is about one meter. Armor penetration increases the tandem warhead and a large mass of ammunition.
The missile itself is fired as a normal projectile from the gun barrel, and then turn on boosters, and begins the flight to the target. The guidance system in automatic mode takes aim at the support and fully controls the flight of the rocket, but allowed the intervention of the operator.
The new missile was tested and included in the ammunition 152-millimeter guns. The weapon uses the technology of complex guided weapons 9К119М “Reflex-M”. The ammunition is made for the size of a normal high-explosive shells for 152-mm guns.
“If the Russian tanks are armed with a gun of caliber of 152 millimeters, then the efficiency of these anti-tank systems will increase significantly. The larger the diameter, the cumulative crater, the rocket more efficient,” — said the publication of the military expert Alex Hassle.
In July, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that Russia’s armed forces do not tend to massively purchase tanks T-14 “Armata” because of their high cost, preferring to increase the combat potential of the military equipment due to its modernization.
