The President of Russia Vladimir Putin in the Duma introduced amendments to legislative acts concerning the appointment and payment of pensions. This is stated in the message published on the Kremlin website.
In particular, it is proposed to halve the period of payment of unemployment benefits. This applies to all, except for people close to retirement age.
The authorities want to raise the retirement age for men to 65, women to 60 (originally was supposed to 63). The bill passed its first reading in July. The government’s decision has caused a strong reaction in society. Putin on 29 August made a special appeal to the citizens, which promised to soften the reform. In addition to reducing the future pension age for women, decided to give the right of early retirement for mothers of many children. Citizens who had to retire in the next two years, will be able to arrange for six months before a new term. Tax benefits on land and property will act upon reaching the former retirement age during the transition period of the reform.
