The international biathlon Union (IBU) refused to restore the full membership of the Russian biathlon Union (RBU) in the organization. This decision was taken at a Congress held in Croatia, reports TASS.

The majority of delegates spoke against the resumption of membership of the RBU, which was suspended in December 2017 at the background doping of the proceedings with a number of Russian athletes. Thus, the SBR will remain a provisional member that does not give him the right to vote at the IBU Congress, to nominate candidates for election to the governing bodies of the organization and qualify for international competitions.

August 30, IBU charged four Russian athletes anti-doping rule violation. According to the information portal “Cempionatam” this list included Alexander Chernyshev and Alexander Pechenkin, Evgeny Ustyugov and Svetlana Sleptsova. In addition, the portal InsideTheGames was told that under the suspicion of use of illegal drugs are 65 Russian athletes.

At the Olympics in Phenone Russian biathletes that competed under the Olympic flag because of a doping scandal, along with other national athletes, set a record. They failed to win any medals.
