Russian biathlon two years left without a license

The Russian biathlon Union (RBU) will return the status of a full member of the International biathlon Union (IBU) only two years later. About it reports TASS.

On Saturday, September 8, IBU Congress amended the organization’s Charter, according to which only he has the right to return to the national federations with full membership. The Congress is held every two years. Thus, the question of obtaining SBR’s membership in the IBU will be considered only in 2020.

On 7 September, Congress refused to restore the SBR rights. In December 2017 IBU transferred the Russian side in the status of temporary member that does not give him the right to vote at the IBU Congress, to nominate candidates for election to the governing bodies of the organization and qualify for international competitions.

According to two-time Olympic champion Viktor Mamatov, who is at the Congress in Croatia, the failure of the IBU to restore full membership of the Union of biathletes of Russia due to new allegations the former head of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory of Gregory Rodchenkov. He pointed to the collusion that existed between the heads of the organizations.
