The Kalashnikov concern has bought from the state Corporation “rostec” 60 percent of the shares of Scientific-production Association (NPO) “Molniya”, which participated in creating the orbital spaceship Buran. It is reported RIA Novosti with reference to the representative of the press service of Rostec.
“Yes, we confirm the transaction,” — said the representative of the company. The transaction amount was not disclosed.
In late March the head of “Kalashnikov” Alexey Krivoruchko explained the purchase: “the Entry of NGO “Lightning” part of the concern will give an impetus to the development of competencies and expertise in the development of reusable spacecraft and missile production targets for different purposes.”
The Soviet system consisted of a spacecraft “Buran” and a super-heavy rocket “Energy”. In 1980-ies the rocket was launched twice (both successfully), one of which — together with the “Buran”, successfully flew in automatic mode.
