North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN is counting on Russia’s help in the issue of easing sanctions against his country. This was stated by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, visited Pyongyang, RIA Novosti reported.
According to her, Kim Jong UN noted the growing role of Moscow in the global arena and its impact. “He hopes that Russia will make efforts to ease sanctions against North Korea in connection with the steps that they [the U.S. and North Korea] are already doing in the framework of the commitments after talks in Singapore,” — said Matvienko.
She stressed that during the talks North Korean leader spoke about the American President Donald trump is very correct. “He’s very diplomatic, correctly pronounced that the Singapore summit was successful”, — said the Chairman of the Federation Council. At the same time in negotiations with the United States “any unilateral steps without counter reactions are not planned,” she said.
Matviyenko said that the North Korean leader is also determined to move towards the denuclearization dialogue with South Korea and to the subsequent Union and also spoke about plans to connect roads and Railways on the Peninsula.
In addition, Kim Jong-UN called beautiful message from Russian President Vladimir Putin and gave a response, the politician said. “He verbally said, asked me to give Mr Putin the best wishes that he appreciates his work and the work of Russia’s support to North Korea, the intention to expand our cooperation,” she said.
Matvienko met with the leader of North Korea 8 September.
The first bilateral summit of leaders of the DPRK and the U.S. took place on 12 June. According to its results, they signed a document, which trump called “important, comprehensive and detailed”. Kim Jong-UN thanked his counterpart for a meeting and called to leave behind all disagreements. Relations between the two countries then slightly improved.
