The genome of Russians will be among the protected state information. The relevant amendments to the law on personal data has developed the CPS, reports “Interfax” with reference to head of Department, chief state sanitary doctor of Russia Anna Popova.
“Today we say that knowledge of my genome is my personal information, and let me dispose of them and not some outsider who feels able to pull out of my blood cells are what he sequanorum (determines the genetic code, the sequence of nucleotides in the DNA molecule)”, she said.
According to her, in 2006, when Russia adopts the law on personal data, the scientists were not able to determine the genome quickly and cheaply. It is expected that the amendments will be submitted for consideration to the state Duma during current session.
