Fighter mixed martial (MMA) Jeff Monson said that he was going to be elected to the state Duma. Words athlete leads “Sport-Express”.
“The state Duma is where I want to be in the future. I want to be able to help more people,” said Monson.
The fighter, who became a Deputy of the city Duma Moscow, Krasnogorsk, also explained how the meetings have been held with residents of the city. “I can understand some things without a translator. I teach Russian language for every day and I learn more and more. I have not had a campaign in the traditional sense. I just spent meeting people in public places and talked with them. The traffic is horrible and corruption — these were the main topics asked questions” — said the citizen of Russia.
On 10 September it was announced that Monson has won the elections to the city Duma of Moscow. The athlete ran from the party “United Russia”.
In late may, the 47-year-old athlete has received a Russian passport. The fighter renounced his U.S. citizenship. In addition, Monson has a passport of the unrecognized Luhansk national Republic (LNR).
Monson does not hide his love for Russia and its Soviet past. The athlete repeatedly came to duels under the anthem of the USSR. During his career, Monson has held 86 fights, of which 59 victories and 26 defeats. One match ended in a draw.
