The Patriarchate of Constantinople for the second time tries to interfere in the internal Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church. About it as transfers “Interfax”, said the Patriarch, gathering an extraordinary meeting of the Synod on Friday, September 14.
“What is happening now in connection with the premise of so-called exarchs, is a mirror image of what had made the Patriarch of Constantinople in the twenties of the [last] century, when our Church, headed by Patriarch Tikhon was in difficult conditions,” he said.
In response to these actions, the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), according to Cyril sent to Constantinople “clear, canonically reasoned letter of protest”, as almost a hundred years ago did, and Patriarch Tikhon, despite pressure from the authorities and imprisonment.
The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church reminded that in the first years of the Soviet Republic, the Supreme authority was under severe pressure from the authorities and representatives of the breakaway from the Patriarchate to the renovation of the Church, which, perhaps, appealed for help in legitimizing to the Constantinople Patriarchate.
Currently, Ukraine has three organization calling itself the Orthodox churches of the Kyiv Patriarchate, the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (both are not recognized by the Orthodox churches of other countries), and the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
