Ukraine managed to defeat Russia and to say goodbye to the Soviet past. With such statement on Friday, September 14, was made by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, reports “Ukrainian truth”.

The Ukrainian leader is convinced that Kiev received the confirmation prospects of NATO membership at the July summit of the Alliance in Brussels. “This summit confirmed NATO’s Euro-Atlantic prospect of a large European country… Presidents and Prime Ministers one after another said: Mr. President, the NATO doors are open for you” — he said.

In turn, the Russian vector of Ukraine’s development after the summit was finally cancelled. “It is not only the intention to once again wave a hand to the Moscow — “good-bye, our tender bear, go back to your fairy forest!” This is a message to our Western partners: “you [NATO] have repeatedly told us that the door is open, do not hesitate, we are sure it will come in!””, — added Poroshenko.

He also warned about the threat of “revenge and the return of Ukraine to the Imperial stall.” “This threat should not be exaggerated, but it should not be underestimated. Russian intervention in electoral processes is not a purely Ukrainian problem as it was 20 years ago,” — said the President of Ukraine. He is convinced that “the offensive of the Kremlin for democracy and freedom acquired the character of a global hybrid war”.

“It is good that we are now coordinating our efforts with our Western partners to develop a reliable mechanism for forestalling interference in the elections. The best way to protect the entire free world — is to protect Ukraine”, — said Poroshenko.

“As President, firmly guarantee free, fair and democratic presidential elections and a new Parliament and local authorities. We will protect the free will of citizens”, — summed Poroshenko.

Election of the President of Ukraine to be held on March 31, 2019. Petro Poroshenko has the right to run for a second term.
