Russian officials chided for ordering furniture for six million rubles



The Sochi city administration has not allowed to spend the budget money on furniture for 6.2 million rubles, the press service of the Prosecutor’s office.

According to the Supervisory authority, the auction for the purchase of furniture in the hall of ceremonial meetings officials announced in September. In the terms of reference indicated that the tables and chairs should be made of solid wood, upholstered with natural leather of the highest quality and decorative finishing of precious wood.

Prosecutors came to the conclusion that it “does not meet the concept of municipal needs and may lead to inefficient use of budgetary funds”. The customer issued a warning about the inadmissibility of violation of the law.

Earlier it became known that the authorities of Karachay-Cherkessia Republic (KCHR) for nationalities, mass communications and printing has announced a tender for the suppression of comments in social networks. According to the specifications, the contractor called cybertwins must publish a short message where, according to the customer, “invalid data are provocative, fuelling sectarian and ethnic conflicts”, and then to report about it. The initial contract amount of 460 thousand rubles.

At the end of last year was adopted the law “On joint-stock companies” allowing the government to conduct public procurement in secret from public scrutiny — in private marketplaces and determine cases when to withhold information about major transactions.
