The Russian Orthodox Church has warned of bloodshed if the autocephaly of the UOC

In the case of the granting of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ukraine can begin the bloodshed. About this on air RT has warned the Chairman of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.

“If the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate recognize the Church of the aggressor, as they now say when it will be deprived of legal rights, we can expect just about anything — that the dissenters could take control over large monasteries, such as Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Pochayiv Lavra. Then, of course, Orthodox believers will defend these Holy places and one can start the bloodshed,” he said.

Patriarch Kirill on September 14, said that Constantinople interferes in the Affairs of the ROC as well as in 1920-ies, when the Russian Church “was in the hardest conditions”. The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church decided to suspend a joint service with the Constantinople Patriarchate and the prayerful commemoration of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew during the divine services because anticanonically activities on the territory of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

September 7, Patriarch Bartholomew appointed two exarchs in Kiev “in preparation for the granting of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.” In Ukraine there are three organization calling itself Orthodox churches: unrecognized Kiev Patriarchate and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church and Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. UOC has a wide autonomy within the Russian Church and does not require autocephaly.
