“Russian spies” suspected in the attack on WADA

Swiss prosecutors suspect the two Russians who were arrested this spring in the Hague on suspicion of espionage, of involvement in the cyber attack against the office of the world anti-doping Agency (WADA) in Louisiana. About it reports newspaper NRC Handelsblad.

According to the publication, these are the same people who were detained in the Netherlands after trying to get the data from the lab in the Swiss town of Spiez. Research center participated in the investigation of chemical attacks in Syria, and also worked on the case of the poisoning in Britain of former GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia.

The circumstances of the detention and the identity of the suspects were not disclosed. According to the Agency, in the operation to arrest alleged spies was attended by Swiss, Dutch and British intelligence agencies.

The investigation began in 2017.
