Japanese writer Haruki Murakami has refused the nomination for the alternative Nobel prize. This was reported by the Agency Kyodo.

According to the Agency, Murakami got in touch with the New Academy of Sweden and was asked to exclude him from the shortlist of nominees 2018. He explained his decision to a desire to concentrate on writing books and to be away from media attention.
