Soviet skier and Olympic champion Vladimir Voronkov has died on 75-m to year of life. This was reported on the website of the Federation of ski races of Russia (FLGR).

The former athlete died on September 25. President FLGR Elena Vyalbe has expressed condolences to his family and friends.

Voronkov won the gold medal at the Olympics in 1972. Soviet skier together with Fyedor Simachev, Yuri and Scobby by Vyacheslav Vedenina won in the relay with four stages of 10 miles each.
