Scientists at the University of Minnesota and the Mayo Clinic (USA) found that the flavonoid of fisetin, which is contained in vegetables and fruits, slows cellular aging and can prolong life of the body. About it reported in a press release on MedicalXpress.
It is known that senescent cells, that is, old cells that have stopped dividing and secreting Pro-inflammatory substances that contribute to the deterioration of surrounding tissues and aging of the whole organism. With age, the immune system, which helps to destroy these cells, working less, which leads to their accumulation.
The researchers found that fisetin helps the mice to get rid of senescent cells improves the health of rodents and increases their life expectancy. However, we are not talking about increasing the maximum possible term of life and a significant reduction in the risk of senile diseases that affect longevity.
Earlier, in September, it was reported that scientists at the Mayo Clinic have found a connection between defective cells and dementia. When you activate mechanisms that contribute to the death of the senescent cells disappeared, the signs of inflammation, accumulation of Tau-protein was not formed, and the mass of the brain remained in the normal range.
