“The alpha-groups” plans to sell a controlling share of the drinking water producer IDS Borjomi (major brands “Holy spring” and “Borzhomi”). According to the newspaper “Kommersant”, talks about buying a lead of Nestle and Coca-Cola.
According to expert estimates, the amount of the transaction can be up to $ 630 million. The sources referred to Nestle the most likely buyer. An agreement has almost been reached, but Coca-Cola still involved in the negotiations.
IDS Borjomi is one of the largest manufacturers of drinking water. The company has nine factories in Russia, Ukraine and Georgia. The portfolio of brands includes Borjomi, “Holy spring”, “Morshynska”, “Edelweiss”.
In March last year in the hands of the company also passed the “Clean water”, the market leader of bottled water in the HOD segment (delivery to homes and offices) in Siberia and the Urals.
According to Euromonitor, the Russian bottled water market grew even during the economic crisis. It is expected that by 2018, its sales will reach nearly 187 billion.
